What is the Magic Hour?

Some say the Magic Hour is that moment in time when day becomes night and night becomes day. Others say it is that life changing event when a child learns to read. In our house, the Magic Hour happens right after bath time but before bed. It is a quiet time that smells of baby soap and lavender lotion. It is a beloved time spent with an extra snuggly baby and a pile of books that has become our bedtime ritual. Come explore the Magic Hour and find a new book to share with the little ones, both big and small, in your life.

Hi. I just found your blog and I’m excited to follow. I too find that the magic hour. We also have days when we will all snuggle up on the sofa with a pile of books alternately chosen by my son and daughter. I love that we can sit there for an hour reading and neither one will lose attention – the power of books is my most passionately held belief. Books are my shoes or handbags – I can’t stop myself buying them and the pleasure I get from a pile of ‘to be read’ books or great recommendations makes people think I’m weird, but I don’t care!! Thanks for following!!! I also buy too many books but now that I am not working (and we are on a budget!) I find myself at the library at least once a week checking out as many as 20 books at a time (a pile of board books for my 1 year old, a stack of picture books for my blog and one or two YA or adult novels for my own nighttime reading). Happy Reading!
